RAINY WEATHER

Clouds gathering – dark!
Wind wooshing, rain pouring – Splash!
Lightning striking – Boom!

LIGHT AND DARKNESS
by Adam, Gr. 2

Light comes with the sun
Light is here with the morning
Dark comes with the moon
Dark is here in the midnight.
They’re opposite each other
They’re also enemies.
The light sometimes defeats the dark –
The dark sometimes defeats the light.

ACROSTIC
by La’Tye, Gr. 4

   Awesome
   Never fails me
   Interesting
   Magical
   Everyone can watch

   Many books
   Amazing
   Never boring
Great for holding my very short attention span
   All day I’m reading

by Amaya, Gr. 4

There are some very simple equations to get the number ME
Music + Family = ME
Friends + Family = ME
Everything X 2 = ME
Acting X 80 = ME
Home + fun + fun + fun + fun + fun = ME
Now you know how to make ME

RIDDLES
by Adam, Gr. 2

Riddles are unfathomable
Riddles are appealing
So hard, sometimes easy
Riddles are mysterious
Riddles are curious as well
But they’re still fun!

Summer
by Daye’Shawn, Gr. 2

A beautiful day No more rain
I can play with my toy train
The grass is real green
The bees are so mean
The sun is hot
There’s corn in the pot
There’s no more school
we play in the pool
Alyssa and I play
On a beautiful summer day.
Yes, I love summer

by Marcel, Gr. 2

Bright in the sky I can see white fluffy clouds
I can see a beautiful bird
In the dark sky I can see the white moon
And I can see the shining stars
What can you see in the sky?

NIGHTMARE
by Maya, Gr. 7

I’m up at night and wide awake
Fears are watching over me
I cannot hide, there’s no escape
Fear might just be the death of me
I’m going cold, my soul is freezin’
I guess Hell’s hot for a reason
I’ll close my eyes until you’re gone
You’re the nightmare I’ve been dreaming of

STORM

Blue and white sky
Suddenly smothered by black and grey
swirling whirling wind on wind
flashing crashing wet and wild
magnificent fury

THUNDER
by Devin, gr. 3

Pac! The sound to scare you – Storm is coming
Pow!  the loudest sound of the night
Whoosh! The sound so you know the trees blow
Grumble!  the sound to help you sleep  zzzzz
Boom! The sound that WAKES YOU UP

MITTENS
by Alyssa, Gr. 3

My cat Mittens
Green eyes
grey fur
happy smile
Hear him purr
My cat Mittens

by Damiah, Gr. 2

Every day when I come in the house
I hold my hand over Francine’s head
She thinks it’s food, it’s not
The third time I do it she just stares
Francine was brown and white, now grey and white.
She’s eight or nine, older than me

She runs all over the house
When Dad pretends he’s barking.
Francine tries to run out of the house when I come in
We run around to get her back in
Francine goes crazy when
someone scares her by jumping out at her
Francine is the best!

FRANCINE MY DOG
by Damia Stewart, Gr. 2

Every day when I come in the house
I hold my hand over Francine’s head
She thinks it’s food, it’s not
The third time I do it she just stares
Francine was brown and white, now grey and white.
She’s eight or nine, older than me

She runs all over the house
When Dad pretends he’s barking.
Francine tries to run out of the house when I come in
We run around to get her back in
Francine goes crazy when
someone scares her by jumping out at her
Francine is the best!

POWERS OF WIND
by Devin, Gr. 3

It's strong
It's cold
It's white
It's blue
Makes you shiver
Freezes you.

By Mia Rowe-Bell

Summer is cool!
Summer is fun!
But, most of all,
   you sweat all day
mosquitos bite
Bees sting
Flies annoy
But, the thing we all love
   is swimming in the pool
   all afternoon!
What I hate is
   hearing my uncles holler
   “Let’s go!
   We’ve gotta go!”
And I hate having to waste my money
   on my favorite popsicles - - $1.50!

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR
by Alyssa, Gr. 3
 Strong man
Fought for equal rights
Wanted Blacks to be free
Wanted all to be treated equally
Led marches to stand for equal rights
from all day to all night
He was he!
He was Martin Luther King!

IN WINTER
by Damiah, Gr. 2

I wear in winter a warm hat
A cozy jacket, gloves, and snow boots.
In winter, I have a snowball fight
Make a ball of snow and throw it at somebody
And, dodge the balls from somebody else
Make an angel.
You have to ley in the snow
Then flap your arms and legs.
I love playing in the snow.
I love winter clothes because they keep me warm
So I can have fun in winter.

EMOTIONS
by Marcel, Gr. 2

Crying tears
Happy miracles
Bad stuff happening
Whining sadly
Walking slowly
Lucky wishes come true
Wonders!
