Debate: Are Violent Video Games Harmful?

VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES ARE NOT GOOD FOR THOSE WHO PLAY THEM

First, violent video games can make kids act more violent and aggressive. A psychologist named Craig A. Anderson said, "One study reveals that young men who are habitually aggressive may be especially vulnerable to aggression effects.” Also, I have personally witnessed some very aggressive kids who I know play lots of violent video games. Plenty of studies have linked violent video game play to aggression. Studies also show that kids who play violent video games often develop anger problems.

Second, it can affect kids mentally in the wrong way. Research has shown that kids who play violent games have more violent thoughts. Another thing research tells us about this subject is that people who play violent games are likely to have or experience anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Imagine how it can make people feel inside, they may feel angry, depressed and sad. I think that we all can agree that we do not like to feel those feelings.

Third, it can affect how you interact with your family members. For example, if you are used to being aggressive while playing violent video games you may start to act this way towards family members. That will become a problem for the family. Also, those violent video games influence can ruin your relationships with your parents. If you talk disrespectfully to them and if how you treat them is disrespectful you will not have a healthy relationship with them.

Fourth, another reason violent video games are harmful is that they don’t teach you the real consequences for violent behavior. For example, in a video game shooting someone may get you rewards, such as money, new weapons or vehicles etc. But, in real life, it will ruin your relationships with others, it could cost you your job, and even cause you to get arrested and go to jail. In a game if you kill someone they can just respawn but in real life they are gone and can't come back.

So, in conclusion I believe that violent video games aren’t good for those who play them. First, violent video games can make kids act more violent and aggressive. Second, it can affect kids mentally in the wrong way. Third, it can affect how you interact with your family members. Fourth, violent video games are harmful because they don’t teach you the real consequences for violent behavior. So thank you for reading and I hope this essay helped your view on what games you should play.

NARRATIVES of FEAR and SUSPENSE

               The Forest of Secrets
        Edited and Illustrated by Princess

The news of the king's death spread through the kingdom of Ontur, in a matter of days. Every corner, castle, even an  inn you could hear and see people screaming, crying, grieving, probably even throwing a party. That whole week the inn was busy night and day , until the day they set the inn on fire, everyone was running and screaming but my grandmother grabbed me by the hand and started running   Pulling and dragging me on the dirt and rocks. I gained a few scratches. I wanted to go back save all the people in my inn, but i couldn't my grandmother gripped my wrist even harder than she had it before, When we arrived i saw a old house with vines falling down of the sides cracks in the wall and some in the windows grass surrounded the house with little to no flowers and  a lot of trees we were there for about 3 hours until we heard the handle rattle i took my grandmother and went to the stairs and hid with my dagger in my hand.

Two Tall and dark figures stepped into the small dwarf house one small…. Well, medium he had curly hair and he was next to a tall man with hair like the shorter one but longer they both had swords. I couldn't see anything else but I thought they were Soldiers. I was lost in thought until I heard a deep voice yell out “ we know you're there” I didnt move. “Come on out, I see the shine of your dagger.” the voice changed it turned into a freakishly medium pitchy voice, i didnt i heard it again and I jumped out with my dagger and tried to slash them but the one with the curly hair blocked it and threw me off of him I managed to get up but right when I was going to strike back the man with the deep voice spoke “ stop! Don't strike, we aren't here to hurt you.“  Jo looked at them in a dreadful manner. “Then why are you here” she thought in her head “why are they so dirty they might as well take a bath in dirt and call it clean” she stared into space until the shorter one spoke up “my name is elias and i am here to help you on your journey, we heard you were going somewhere in the forest on your way running here.” “his voice is so high and then it changes low” she thought. As she was lost in thought again her grandmother shrieked as she realized that the two men that stepped into that one very door were gone, “grandma i am going to check out where they went” stupidly her grandmother agreed. As she  started walking she saw blood followed by bloody footprints, cobwebs and spiders. She continued walking until she heard a branch crack in the back of her, she saw the shadow and ran. It showed a creature deforming into a human shaped body like slime. “She heard he grandmother scream. Sshe came running back.

PHONES SHOULD BE ALLOWED IN THE

            MOVIE THEATERS, BUT WITH LIMITS

First, I believe phones are needed for movie theaters. Phones are needed to stay aware. For example, if your house is on fire you can get a news alert about it. And, imagine what could have happened if they did not know. They could not make provisions and they could not find a place to stay for the night. Phones also are good for flashlights if you drop something important. Suppose you drop your wedding ring and you cannot find it you would need a flashlight to find it.

Second, I think there should be limits so people can enjoy their movies. I think that people should have their phones but it should not be on during the movie. What I mean is if someone has to go on their phone for work or an emergency they need to step out or not stay on their phone long. This rule is very important because people do not like to waste their money because other people are being distracting. That’s like throwing people's money in the trash and we don’t want to do that.

Third, there are pros and cons of having a phone in a movie theater. The con of not having a phone in a movie theater is that some people will stop going to the movies if they can’t bring their phones in. This will hurt the economy because if people stop going to the movie theaters the theaters would lose money and movie theaters might shut down. Suppose your family member is in a severe state and you won’t know or be aware of it, that would not be good.

In conclusion, phones are necessary in movie theaters with limits, here’s why. Phones should be allowed because it will help the economy and you need it for communication. It should have limits like for example it should not be on during the movie. We also have to be careful having our phones on because it can offend people. And, when people get offended they might get physical and lay hands.

In conclusion, phones are necessary in movie theaters with limits.
